The Peter Pan Nursery was
set up in 1969 by a doctor and a teacher who had special
needs children of their own. They felt isolated and wanted
to set up the nursery as both support for their children
and for families with Special Needs children serving those
in Stoke, Newcastle and other surrounding areas.
Since then the nursery has
continued to thrive. The Peter Pan Nursery is unique within
our region as we offer support to children with special needs
from birth to five providing early intervention to help children
develop to their full potential in a warm stimulating environment,
with qualified experienced staff.
The children at the nursery
have a wide range of disabilities which include Cerebral
Palsy, Global Development Delay, Downs Syndrome, Autism,
Speech, Visual and Hearing impediments as well as various
other syndromes such as Retts, Dandywalker and Edwards.
Many of our children are
referred to us by consultants, psychologists, therapists
or social workers whilst in some cases, parents with a special
needs child contact us directly.
The nursery provides a happy,
secure and stimulating environment where each child is valued
and helped to achieve their maximum potential.
Mission
statement The mission of the Peter Pan
Nursery is to provide a high quality nursery provision
to children with special needs aged between birth
and 5 years old. Also to provide much needed support
to parents of children with special needs from birth
onwards when no state provision is available and
parents often feel at their most vulnerable.
